Case Study
While diminutive in size, this automotive part is mechanically functional and feature-rich. Not only does it boast production requirements in the 50,000,000 pieces per-year range, it has the usual cost requirements that leave little room for error.
CHALLENGE: Manufacturing 50,000,000 parts per year and delivering 100% "to-print" parts to our demanding customer, all at a competitive price – all of the time.
SOLUTION: Realistically assessing that traditional inspection methods would be too cost-prohibitive, Advent designed and built a 16-cavity mold with cavity pressure sensors to monitor each and every cavity individually. Advent's team then implemented RJG data collection equipment with an Arburg injection molding press, and developed a molding process with parameters that assured parts were "to-print". Finally, the team integrated diversion equipment to quarantine any suspect parts.
THE RESULT? Five years of defect free parts (250 million) delivered to our customer
