Just as consumers are demanding increased functional requirements at break-neck speed in the electronics industry, so too are the demands for the accompanying plastics parts and assemblies. Advent’s formidable industry presence and supplier partnership with material manufacturers such as GE means your application will utilize the most advanced formulations and best fit. In addition to providing cost-effective solutions, our real forte lies in our ability to meet the tighter and tighter tolerances made necessary by today’s automation equipment and required run speeds. Advent regularly provides insert molded connectors, over-molded lead frames, and encapsulation of electronic components.
The ADVENT Record of Success:
Case Study
What makes this Key Fob unique is in its functionality as an "electronic license plate" or ID badge for industrial equipment. Used in a hostile, hot, and caustic environment, its application success requires durability, dependability, and user friendliness.
CHALLENGE: We expected extreme temperature and pressure issues to complicate the molding process limiting throughput to an unacceptable rate. Also challenging was the overmolded material from which we wanted to find encapsulation only, with no chemical bond. Additionally, the customer was expecting a turnkey operation with assembly kits ready for distribution.
SOLUTION: A group effort to research and source component parts resulted in significant savings. While sensitive, the molding process developed through scientific molding practices proved highly cost-effective. Further collaborative team effort for material selection resulted in reduced molding temperatures and pressures, as well as provided the necessary protection for the finished part. Finally, the kitting of finished assembly included custom and individualized bar code labeling, part-to-part record keeping, testing, and assembly.
THE RESULT? A functionally protected product kitted cost-effectively
